We work closely with suppliers that share our passion to guarantee quality is maintained and the product arrives tasting in top condition. All craft beer and cider is stored chilled right up to the time we send to you.

It is very important to us that we supply our customers with quality product be it wine, cider or beer.

Boneface Craft beers have been really well received in the market place with the first batch selling out

within the first 2 weeks!! Batch two is now brewed and will be hitting the shelves around the country

this week.

If your local supplier are not yet stocking Boneface, - let them know

they will be more than happy to get it in when they see the demand.

BONEFACE, a new player in the craft beer industry has arrived in Upper Hutt, Wellington. Owner, Matt Dainty, an experienced brewer was at Renaissance brewery for several years before moving to Wellington with Selena, his wife and business partner with the plan to go out on his own.

On March 22nd Matt's dream was realised, with the launch of Boneface Brewing Company's initial lineup of four beers, rolling out around the country.

At each of the launches so far Boneface brews have sold out on the night. Matt is now onto his second batch in tanks.

Not bad after a week's sales!!! By mid April all four beers will be available, as well as the release of a new Fresh Hop

beer called "Hop Beat".

When the Auckland Account Manager role for Hop and Vine was made available to me I jumped at the opportunity. After many years working in the liquor industry across multiple brands, the chance to work alongside smaller boutique/craft style suppliers was one I simply couldn’t let pass me by. Hop and Vine’s ethos and fantastic reputation within the industry also drew me towards this role.

As well as working in the liquor industry, I am a part time musician (Bass Guitarist), and as such I have had the privilege to play in and write songs with some of New Zealand’s most prolific bands (Opshop and The Feelers). Travelling the length of the country and performing around the world has been a lot of fun and hard work… But mostly fun!.. But as George Thorogood once said, it was time for me to “Get a haircut, and get a real job!”. I still play every now and then, but more for fun than a job!

I have an amazing family life with my wife and 3 incredible children, and can’t wait to sink my teeth into my role as Auckland Account Manager.

Austria's favourite white wine variety.

Catherine and Crawford Brown have transformed a rabbit-ruined paddock into an award-winning vineyard that's an oeno-nirvana of pinot noir, riesling and now gruner veltliner

(Grooner-velt-leener).

Bracing layers of acidity slice apart the white nectarine, lime and seashell notes of this wine. The signature white of Austria has clearly found a happy home in our deep south.

The annual Air New Zealand Wine Awards Gala Awards Dinner was held in Nelson for the first time ever on Saturday night. The most glamorous trophy of the night, the Champion Pinot Noir Trophy, was awarded to Brightwater Vineyards 2014 Nelson Pinot Noir. Six hundred and thirty wine industry personnel attended the glitzy event held at a dressed up Saxton Stadium.

Tony Southgate, Winemaker at Brightwater Vineyards, accepted the trophy. In his speech he said “As a small company, this really is a great moment for us. At Brightwater Vineyards, we all focus on the same goal, and that is to make elegant, concentrated wine, full of personality. We put a huge amount of man hours into our vineyards across all of the varietals we grow to ensure we are starting with the best possible fruit, and that makes receiving an award like this one, extra special.”

The Pinot Noir was grown very close to the Awards Dinner venue in Hope on the Waimea Plains.

“This is absolutely fantastic,” said Gary Neale, Co-owner of Brightwater Vineyards. “As a small producer you dream of winning a Pinot Noir trophy. It inspires you. And this one, The Air New Zealand Wine Awards Trophy is the most prestigious of them all!

This Pure Elite Gold Medal is the fourth Gold Medal to be awarded to our 2014 Nelson Pinot Noir. It is also the same wine that was enjoyed by HRH Prince Charles and Camilla when they were here in Nelson earlier this month.

Introducing Margie Slattery-Smith

Margie is pleased to join the Hop and Vine team as Account Manager for Central Otago where she has lived and worked since 1989.

A tourism and hospitality professional with an NZIM Diploma in Management she has worked in senior management roles in Queenstown for some of NZ’s leading corporations including Mount Cook Line, Tourism Holdings Limited and Trade Me. Prior to settling in Queenstown she worked as a professional ski instructor and ski guide in Australia, Canada, France & Austria. In between seasons she turned her hand to hospitality working as a cocktail and silver service waitress in a variety of establishments. She has experience in organising hospitality events for small and large groups.

Passionate about customer service and meeting and hosting people from around the world she started her own business in 2010, Bearsden Bed and Breakfast, which has been highly reviewed ever since.

In her part time role as Account Manager for Hop and Vine she will continue to run her B&B.

Margie looks forward to visiting the many customers that Terry and Carole have made in the past few years and forging new partnerships by continuing to showcase some of New Zealand’s premium products ifrom the Hop and Vine portfolio including multi award winning wines, cider and craft beers.

Bannock Brae ‘Cathy’s’ Central Otago Rosé 2014 * * * * Light strawberry pink colour with some depth, and lighter purple hues on rim. The nose is fresh with an elegant core of strawberry fruit, and raspberries and cream, unfolding delicate floral and fruit pastille confectionary notes. Dry to taste and medium-bodied, fruit flavours of strawberries and cream, redcurrants and watermelon show with attractive clarity. Made from Pinot Noir fruit selected for the rosé style, given 3 days skin contact and cool-fermented to 13.5% alc. and 2.5 g/L RS. Winemaker: Sarah-Kate Dineen. 17.5/20 Dec 2014

“…Bright, pale, salmon-pink colour, lighter on rim with some purple hues. This has a soft, fresh and positive nose with a good core of aromas of red florals and strawberry fruit along with minerally nuances and a suggestion of confectionary. Off-dry to taste, gently juicy and rich flavours of strawberries form a softly textured palate with a degree of unctuousness. The mouth feel has vinosity, good depth and density, flowing smoothly with slippery acidity lending energy and drive. This has some power with the alcohol carrying the flavours to a soft, rounded finish with floral and confectionary notes. This is a soft, gently rich and slippery rosé with pretty red floral and strawberry flavours.” Oct 2014

Brightwater Vineyards Nelson Sauvignon Blanc will be served on

Air New Zealand Business Premier Class flights, Domestic Koru Hour flights and in Koru Lounges as from August this year.

Kirk Bray of Georges Road in Wapara Valley made a barrel of rose wine from Syrah as an experiment in 2012. As there are not too many Syrah Rose's in NZ it was a 'winemakers punt' that it will work - but one that paid off as he liked it so much that he made it a more commercial proposition for 2013.

A fresh vibrant Syrah Rose. Dry, with attractive aromas of red fruit, pepper and spice notes. Superb summer wine.

Having worked in Germany Kirk is familiar with late harvest and botrytised wines, so when a quantity of heavily botrytised Riesling fruit came up, he knew what he had to do - make a sweet wine out of it!

Fully botrytised Riesling grapes and delivate winemaking have yielded a superbly balanced wine. Aromas of ripe citrus, apricot with caramel notes. Moderate sweetness with good acidity and supberb length

Brightwater Vineyards 2013 Nelson Pinot Gris received a Gold medal at the International Aromatics Wine Competition in Christchurch this week. A wonderful result considering this wine is not due for release for a few months yet and it can only get better. Brightwater have been making Pinot Gris for 5 years and every vintage has received gold or 5 stars.

This wine also received a Pure Silver medal at the Romeo Bragato Wine Awards in August.
