GEORGES ROAD WINES

Georges Road Wines possesses a rare quality among today’s wineries of NZ — from grape to glass, Kirk is intimately involved in all aspects of production, completely connected to the final wine in the bottle.
Kirk Bray, owner of Georges Road Wines, is a graduate (with Distinction) from Lincoln Universities Post Graduate Diploma course for Viticulture & Oenology.  After soaking up vintage cellar experiences at wineries in Canterbury, Waipara, France, California and Germany, Kirk moved to Germany full time where he spent a further two years winemaking in the Pfalz. Returning to NZ in 2003, and inspired by the family-owned and quality-focused wineries of Europe, Kirk and his wife Alison bought 8 hectares of prime vineyard land in Waipara.  The Georges Road vineyard was planted in 2004 with Syrah, Riesling, Pinot Gris and Pinot Noir, and a winery was added in 2015.

GRROSE
Les Terraces Rose 2023

Made from Syrah, hand-picked at Waipara and fermented with indigenous yeasts. Bright pink, with a slightly spicy bouquet, it is lively and smooth (4.5 grams/litre of residual sugar), with gentle watermelon and spice flavours, fresh acidity, and lots of youthful impact.

GRPG
Pinot Gris 2020

Highly aromatic European inspired Gris with layers of apricot, pear and spice typical of the variety together with a very generous palate weight, rich texture and great length. A dry wine with superb balance between the hint of fruit sweetness and fresh acidity.

GRRIES
Block Three
Riesling 2022

Showing strong personality. Light lemon/green, it is attractively scented and vivacious, with citrusy, appley flavours, a splash of sweetness and excellent poise, delicacy and depth
Food match: Sushi, Poultry dishes.

GRSYR
Deux Fils Syrah 2021

Classic cool climate Syrah. Wonderfully weighted elegant wine with sweet fresh cherry and licorice notes combined with subtle oak, hints of spicy fine grained tannin, a velvet mouthfeel and lengthy finish. 13.5% abv

GRPN
L'Etranger
Pinot Noir 2022
Noble
Riesling 2018

Beautifully balanced wine, never cloying and with enough acid to ensure perfect balance and length. Lovely layered rich fruit weight that will continue to develop and reward with cellaring. In line with our winemaking philosophy this wine has not been fined or cold stabilised.

Central Otago Fruit.
Full, bright ruby, with a fragrant, savoury bouquet, it is mouthfilling, with generous cherry, plum and spice flavours, finely integated nutty oak and ripe, supple tannins.
